That’s what we hear all the time. But the truth is you won’t find any Software that pleases 100% of its users.

There are over 70 Millions websites using WordPress (WP in short) today and they can’t be wrong. It’s actually pretty easy to use WP, straight out of the box, it does a pretty good job, but to make it look and do exactly what you want just by using themes and plugins features, it’s not realistic. Especially for that price.

On top of that there are tons of Themes and Plugins (plugins are just pieces of software that add a particular functionnality to your wordpress blog)  to choose from, you’ll have to spend a fair amount of time just trying.

Sometimes, you’ll need something made just for you,  something customized. It can be modifying a Theme, the position of the images, the font, the color, the organization of the page, … . Sometimes you need an extra functionality in a plugin, or have a plugin just made for you.

It seems complicated, well if you started WordPress 5 minutes ago and you never wrote a single line of code in you life, then it is. If you spent the last 20 years coding and have been dealing with WP for quite some time, then probably not. There is a learning process like everything. If you are just Starting Football, you are not going to win the SuperBall tomorrow or next season.

One thing you need to keep in mind:  try to keep as few plugins as possible as it will slow down you website considerably. We see too many times people having 20-30 plugins running. It’s way too much. Many times people don’t remember why they have them installed in the first place.

Here are 2 tips from the pros that you need to apply today :

1) Backup . You need to backup your WordPress site. In fact you should perform a backup before you upgrade WordPress or any plugin. It’s the easiest way to restore back to a working version and not loose any data. It’s the best way to maintain a website with as little stress as possible. We recommend BackupBuddy to all our clients.

2) Have a test website. If your site is www.mysite.com, have another site called test.mysite.com . It’s not hard to do. Most providers will provide an easy way to have a second site. It won’t cost you extra, and you can test all you want without disturbing your main site. You can try plugins, themes, all day long and then when you are ready, you can put it on your live website. No stress.

That’s it for today.
